NEW YORK -- The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the United States fell 15.9 cents to $3.624 in the past three weeks due to a drop in crude oil, which took a hit from fears over Europe's economy and a stronger dollar, the Lundberg Survey showed.
The national average for regular gasoline as of June 8 was down more than 11.62 cents from the year-earlier level of $3.74 a gallon, according to the survey of some 2,500 gasoline stations in the continental United States.
The price was the lowest since the Feb. 10 survey, which recorded an average of $3.51 per gallon.
It was the fourth straight survey to show a price decline. Prices peaked at $3.967 on April 6 and have been falling ever since, down 34.28 cents, survey editor Trilby Lundberg said.
The average price of a gallon of diesel has fallen by nearly the same amount, down 30.61 cents over the past nine weeks and 17.64 cents over the past three, to $3.9089.
Both gasoline and diesel prices are lower than a year ago.
"U.S. fuel consumers have had a significant benefit as both diesel and gasoline prices crashed. Crude oil is the cause of both," Lundberg said.
The average price of a gallon of gasoline at self-serve stations was the lowest in Jackson, Mississippi at $3.18. Seattle had the highest at $4.22, partly because of a fire at BP's Cherry Point refinery in Washington state.
TODAY consumer correspondent Janice Lieberman discusses some of the gadgets stores like Macy's and Nordstrom are using that some of the same functions as customer service representatives.

What ever happened to Michelle "$2.00 a Gallon" Bachmann?
Oil fluctuates with the expectation of changes in the money supply. Price of oil, gold, silver, stocks, bonds, homes cannot be sustained when the money supply deflates. Google for "DEFLATIONARY CRASH" to understand why US dollar becomes more valuable during financial crisis.
I would like to know where gas prices have come down this much, because they certainly have not fallen much in SoCal. Our gas prices are still in the $4.30-$4.40 range for regular unleaded out here. With mid grade and premium 10 and 20 cents higher respectively. I also find it strange that diesel is so much more than regular gas. Twenty years ago the big selling point for diesel cars was that diesel was considerably cheaper. Since diesel is a less refined product than gasoline, it should be cheaper, not more expensive.
Look at the pro-Obama media (esp. MSNBC) searching high and low for stories that put a positive spin on the failed economy under his presidency.
There are 46 million Americans on food stamps, 6 trillion in new debt, 50% teen Black unemployment, the lowest % of Americans in the work force in our history, 20% unemployed or under-employed, no solutions to make Medicare and Social Security solvent, no solutions to simplify the tax code, an un-Constitutional health care mandate, etc., etc., etc.
But gas is down *16 cents*?!!! This is HUGE!! We're all gonna save a dollar fifty!!!!!!!
jstdafacts - she probably couldn't get her mouth around the pump....
JS in SD: I'd like to know where they get these prices in the article as well - it certainly wasn't from my state where it is stil 4.25 or more here.
Arthur66: Look at the facts listed by this conspiracist; facts bearing the fallout of the bad economy that the Repubs caused when they were in office for eight years. After causing all of this, it seems a bit insane to sit here and crow about it so much.
Which "eight years" do you mean? Democrats controlled both Houses from 2006-2010.
Yeah and groceries are UP by 75-200%. BSNBC you are picking at straws and showing your liberal progressive bias again and being a shill for the Obammy admin.
gas has risen since we have been over in the middle east , how do you think they pay for their ammunition
World events created by world leaders will determine the price of oil. Qaddafi, Ahmadinejad, Bin Laden, Cheney and the like. Never, ever men like Bush or Obama, they are not sinister enough.
I am just wondering when folks will get to thanking the President for the down turn in gas prices. It just follows that he must be responsible as he certainly was being held responsible for the increases in our gas prices. Every time that I fill up these days, I am thanking President Obama for taking making gas more affordable again.
I don't believe the oil industry is comprised of truth-telling folks. It nauseates me to realize that whenever oil companies want to raise the price of gas, they can...with impunity. If they want to demand that every driver in the U.S. pays them an extra $20 a week, they can do that. On top of that, they demand subsidies for something.
People are the ones who need subsidies. People are the ones who need to be bailed out instead of what happens repeatedly--being sold out.
When was the last time you heard a govt'l outcry opposed to raising the prices on American citizens in the midst of a recession?
And where is the price compared to a year ago? This is all total BS, and planned in advance by the oil industry. We need to nationalize the oil industry, starting in the U.S. but worldwide. No greedy corporation can be allowed to have a strangle hold on the entire world. In Venezuela gas is $0.12 a gallon.
She will soon be the Secretary of Energy under President Romney
Whaaaaat ?
Gas station three blocks from my home had gas at $ 434.9/gal last week and is now $ 424.9/gal.
Yep, and the spin continues.
The price of gas fell? Well it must be due to Obama. All the RWNJ's wouldn't stop shrieking about how it was Obama's fault when the prices rose a month ago. So now it has to be due to the President's policies right? I mean, they wouldn't admit that the price was due to speculators and entirely independent of the President when the prices went up, so they can't say that now. Sorry.
Midas, You clearly have not been paying attention if you want to talk about grocery prices. Food packaging has been getting smaller for years, with little increase in price. Kraft and the other major food packaging corps have been picking our pockets while getting government subsidies for well over a two decades. Drop the partisan glasses and you will see that neither side of the isle has really been helping the consumer, but folks like Michelle Bachman that collect subsidies which circumvent the free market have been a drag on us all.
LOL what a bunch of loons. No one is spinnig anything. For all those that don't think gas has come down move to FL it's dropped 70 cents the past few month. The price of oil is down and reporting it has nothing to do with politic. If it did it would be going up since BIG Oil loves Mitt and would love to help make him President so they can have more tax breaks.
Crazy #$%#$^%#^#!s
Wow, a whole 16 cents. So if a barrel is 42 gallons of oil and it's dropped 15 dollars a barrel (Valued at 86 bucks a barrel, which would put that at roughly 2.04 a gallon of unrefined oil) add the 40 cents of fed, state and local taxes for Tennessee (Vary from state to state, http://www.api.org/Oil-and-Natural-Gas-Overview/Industry-Economics/~/media/21EBD0B62EBA42B1965EE82EFFB6585D.ashx) equals Americans still getting screwed because it should be under 3 bucks a gallon.
"The price of gas fell? Well it must be due to Obama. All the RWNJ's wouldn't stop shrieking about how it was Obama's fault when the prices rose a month ago. Of course they can't they are just hate mongers that want to blame everything on the President. Heck they claim this story is just "liberal spin" (whatever that means) to make us vote for Obama. LOL Well DAMN IT I think those Oil companies need to make more record profits and tax breaks so I'm voting for Mitt......NOT!
We're seeing gas prices of $3.16 / gal, down from $3.90-ish a couple of months ago. All you folks in $4+ country need to move to S.E. Kansas!
i guess you all don't care for us in wash. state. in s. central wash., tri cities our gas pricesd range from 4.06 to 4.20 for regular! it's a what about us thought. plz let the powers that be that we need that 3.50 per, i can't believe i wrote that, gallon and moving down to reality before obama's other price gouging reaches us.
due
One of our gas stations was selling regular for $4.01. Today they have it for $3.28.
It's all Bush's fault. :-)
strange, but gas went up 20 cents the last three weeks,
Alex, did you miss a few years of Prince Harry and Princess Nancy running Congress??
Can't forget that fact gas was about $2.00 when big O took office either....
This all a bunch of crap. With the price of oil gas prices should be under $2. If congress was really doing their job they would stop kissing the oil company's collective butts and work for the people who voted for them instead of the companies who are bribing them.
ok you right wing dings running at the mouth, can you shut up or at least thank President Obama? Since everyone knows he's in the gasoline business
Harley #1.21, you got that right, lets not make another mistake like "W" again !!!
I paid $3.24 yesterday.
Trust
On average only about 40% of a barrel of oil is suitable for gas. The rest is used in plastics, cosmetics, fuel oil, diesel fuel and many other items. A 15% drop in the price of oil only reduces the price of gas by about 5% because fixed costs stay the same, that is taxes refining and transportation.
Many people are complaining about subsidies for the oil companies. they don't get subsidies they get deductions, the same as every other company in America, A subsidy is money that the government gives directly to a business, for example, a farm may get a cash payment from the government not to grow certain crops.
Another myth is that policy can't effect gas prices. If we were to open up oil fields, that actually have oil, to drilling prices would go down. The speculators would bet on oil prices that aren't controlled by OPEC, and the stability of the US would push prices down because we don't have the same issues that the Middle East has.
Three months ago, as oil prices were rising, Republicans were furious, furious....."It's Obama, it's Obamas fault !
Now, since they are really nice guys, with dropping price of oil, the Republicans are saying "Wow, that fellow Obama heard our complaints and HE is lowering the cost of OIL ! I'm voting for Obama !"
Me,too, guys ! Me too.
@BlueBurner
It nauseates you that someone can create a product and then decide how much they want to sell their product for? Well how very communist of you.
Here's what most people don't realize. Oil is one of the LEAST profitable manufacturing industries out there. Their return on a dollar invested is about 8-9 cents which is about 60% of the average for manufacturing. Typically the oil companies make 3-4 cents per gallon, a fraction of what state and Federal government make on taxes for that same gallon. The only reason oil companies have huge profits is because they are HUGE companies.
What about the record profits, they can buy a small Country with and the millions and millions they give to the GOP TeaBag party ?????????
Yeah I agree, I'd much rather see the oil companies...or any American company....losing their asses....'cause that would be so much better for our economy....
Wow, it's down $0.16 it think I'll go put 10 gallons in my car and use the $1.60 I saved to take my wife out to eat.
As far as why gas prices are still so high in California and Washington State, I think I might have an answer. California normally gets its gasoline from up North near Canada. The same can be said for Washington. Some locals up in Washington State I've talked to mentioned something about a major refinery accident a year or two ago that hasn't been entirely resolved yet. Since gasoline has to make its way West through the Rocky Mountains to get here, gas prices are going to stay at around the $4.20-4.30 range for a while. Gas prices back home in Texas are sitting at about $3.25, so there is (some) truth to this article.
Gas in our area (DC/MD/VA) has been falling for the last 6 weeks straight. We were at a high of 4.99 at the two stations just around the corner from us just 6 weeks ago, on the way home Friday the posted for regular was 3.44. I'm just happy that it's going down, but once the speculators get on the horse again, it wont be long before we are seeing go up again.
Hakumen, I figured gas was high because of taxes. California fuel tax is like 80 cents a gallon. Here in Arizona is 36 cents (state and federal). On my way to San Diego, I fill up in Yuma for $3.70. In Winterhaven across the Colorado River 3 miles away, its $4.40. This reflects California's huge tax on fuel.
@Patriotic American U.S.A.
We already did that. The question is will we double down on that mistake like we did with "W"???
I've read this crap so many times it is sickening. Maybe that's because they already raped us when they went from .99$ a gallon to 4.25$ a gallon and pocketed all the damn profits themselves!!! What we need to see now is those criminals take a horrific beating that ruins them and drives them out of the oil business for good. All any of this is is crap. What the hell was the costs to the oil companies before they inflated it to over 4.25 a gallon in 2007? Ya know when a few years earlier it was .99$ a gallon?
Last week I filled up for $3.07 pg, some parts of the state gas is going for less than $3.00. We have the cheapest gas in the nation because our state tax is less.
Mike-424215
You get sickened by the truth? Why am I not surprised.
So we'll have no gas? That's what you want to see? Life as we know it will come to a screeching halt as gas is all imported and reaches 20-30 dollars a gallon but as long as the oil companies here go out of business it will be worth it?
You mean back when oil was 30 bucks a barrel? You do realize that oil companies buy the oil they refine into gasoline right? If you had a friggin clue in the world you wouldn't be so pissed off. Please try to educate yourself before you have a stroke.
I mean when it was 14$ a barrel in 2001 and the thieving manipulators your not so smart supporters call speculators drove it up to 125$ a barrel and destroyed the world economies. The answer to your idiocy is easy, nationalize all oil and gasoline produced and refined in the United States to stay in the United States and take it completely off the world market. Train and put americans to work drilling and producing for our own country and reopen all the refineries the frigging oil lobbyists had the EPA pass laws on in 2005 that forced every small refinery in the nation to shut down because they could no longer afford to pay the 100+mil for the upgrades the EPA laws bought and paid for by the big 3 oil corporations got passed and went into effect in January 2007.
@Mike-424215
ROTFLMAO!!! Talk about idiocy!! Dude, hate to break it to you but we can't produce enough oil to meet our own needs. So WTF do you think is going to happen when we tell the rest of the world to fck off? They're going to say the same to us. We cut them off so they'll cut us off. Then what genius? What do you think is going to happen when we can only produce HALF the oil we currently use? Hmmm? Think 4 bucks a gallon is too much to pay? After your asinine plan takes effect we'll fondly remember the good old days of 4$ gas.
OMG! Now I have literally fallen off my chair I'm laughing so hard!
You really don't have a clue do you? We export more than we import not so smart person. It's funny that all the countries that have nationalized oil are selling gas in their countries for about .25$ a gallon. You must be a republican. You either lack education or brains. Most likely both. I know, drill and cap baby, drill and cap and put on the world market to help us drive down prices.
What to Bachmann? Kind of a ridiculous question. obummer is still in power with no energy plan and leading us in to another recession, or did we ever get out of the first. Gas is lower because of the economy due to obama the failure.
What spin? 4.3 billion jobs were created in the public sector in the past 27 months. Those are facts. Obama got blamed when gas prices went up. Does he get credit when they go down. Of course not.
Arthur66..........Sure, and all of that happened in just the last 42 months, right ?
Mark-384387....Yes, that Bush energy plan worked so well for us, including the Iraqi Oil that was going to "pay for the war". Things are so much worse now then they were in the Fall of 08, right ? Economy was really doing well while real estate crashed, banks failed, etc, yeah, those were the good old days, right ? Have you looked at your 401K lately compared to what it looked like in November of 2008 ?
"The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the United States fell 15.9 cents to $3.624 in the past three weeks"
That makes it only $1.78 higher than when Bush left office ($1.84 per gallon).
Thank you Obama for your 'moratoriums' and drilling bans.
sam adams "What spin? 4.3 billion jobs were created in the public sector in the past 27 months. Those are facts."
Wow, I'm impressed. 4.3 billion new jobs for 310 million Americans - that's about 14 new jobs for every American - including children, babies and retired people. And that's just in the 'public sector' - imagine how many Obama must have 'created' in the private sector.
Keep on reporting those 'facts'.
Sam adams...
LOL, as I recall this past winter, the left was up in arms about the oil companies being in cahoots with the GOP to keep oil prices high to cast obama as being a failure. By that logic the oil companies must now be in the pocket of obama, right?
BTW, pelosi, obama and others blamed bush2 back in 2008 for high gas prices, isn't turnabout rhetoric fair play?
ROY WILSON-336103....ah yes, the good old Bush days, with the largest drop in employment since the depression ! Gas prices went down because the American and global economy was destroyed ! Fewer people going to work = less demand for gas !
Price of gas going down shows that the economy is slowing down, no reason to applaud Pres. Obama, beside gas, prices of food is going up, clothes going up, schools going up, medicine going up , transportation going up , unemployment going up. housing going up, more people in welfare, more people bellow poverty line. However for the president everything is fine, the private sector is doing fine , Obama is out of touch from reality, the price of gas could be lower and a more energy independent nation if, Obama stop fighting the oil industry. This is Obama's economy , Waserman Shults agree, liberals keep blaming Bush this is nothing no more than exuses for his failure to bring the economy back, this is ludicrous
A few left hanging dingle berries forget that Michele Bachmann isn't in charge while ignoring the fact that Obama's policies have only made our economic and financial problems worse.
Fast N Foolish, intel leaks, Solyndra and saying the private sector is doing well are only a few of his self defeating boondoggles. Let's not even get started on unemployment disaster and the natinl debt.
@Mike-424215
We export more petroleum products not oil. Get a clue yourself. We only produce about 55% of the oil we use, most of the rest comes from Canada and Mexico and countries in S. America with the last 10% from the Mid East. http://205.254.135.7/energy_in_brief/foreign_oil_dependence.cfm
No it's not funny, the gas is .25 cents because the government pays the difference through MASSIVE subsidies. Do you look for any facts EVER? My God!http://pushbacknow.net/2012/03/22/venezuela-land-of-12-cent-gas/
Oh...no wonder we have to subsidize them. They aren't making any money! And just think of all that oil they lost in the Gulf...not to mention a few human lives. Why let me run down to the nearest gas station and fill up, my way of signaling appreciation to them for operating on a shoestring.
@KeenInsight
We don't have to subsidize them. But by the same token, they don't have to find our oil for us and then they don't have to get it out of the ground for us. In fact I'm sure they'd prefer we took on those expenses ourselves but would you?
For the record most oil companies would prefer an end to all subsidies in favor of a simplified tax code without all of the loopholes and red tape. That would benefit the rest of us as well. Why don't you cry and whine about that? It would make more sense and it would be so simples that you would actually be able to understand it.
Well! You seem to have a direct line into the global oil market. You know, a simplified tax code is not a new idea that materialized once Obama won office. Republicans were in power for 8 years before Obama got to town. What the heck did they do?
And why do they need it simplified anyway? Last I read, EXXON paid no income taxes. What's more simple that $0?
I guess they are saying, "listen, if the tax code were simpler, then I'd be happy to pay taxes? But with a complicated tax code, I'm going to continue paying no taxes, darn it, and demand subsidies, too!"
@BlueBurner
Direct line? No, I just take the time to find out facts about the things that bother me. Makes more sense in my mind than bitching and whining about things I don't know anything about. Some people obviously feel otherwise.
No sht, they didn't do anything. Did you have a point other than mentioning the obvious?
Well I would suggest you not bother reading anything else from that source again. Also you do realize there are more than one oil company right?
"The federal Energy Information Administration reports that the industry paid some $35.7 billion in corporate income taxes in 2009, the latest year for which data are available. That alone is about 10% of non-defense discretionary spending—and it would cover a lot of Solyndras. That figure also doesn't count excise taxes, state taxes and rents, royalties, fees and bonus payments. All told, the government rakes in $86 million from oil and gas every day—far more than from any other business."-http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304537904577277440911481180.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
86 million every day from oil comapnies and that's after the subsidies they receive which are entirely in the form of tax breaks
For the record, I'm a libertarian and would end all subsidies to all companies so don't assume I'm defending them because I'm not. Just pointing out the facts.
Add in the cost of shipping, storing, and dispensing that gasoline and see if the total is still under 3 bucks a gallon. The cost after buying the barrel is pretty fixed. Its the add on caused by specullation that drives up the cost per barrel... gas is dropping because the oil speculators are waiting for prices to drop and selling off their current stock so when the price hits rock bottom they can buy up a whole new batch.
The price would be a lot less if the gulf coast refineries were not selling gasoline and diesel to countries other than the US.
Gasoline is a global commodity, and here in the US it's very cheap, compared to most other countries. If an oil company gets a better price from someone else, they're gonna sell it to them.
That's called economics. It would be tough for the major oil companies to be showing ridiculous profits if they only sold to the US.
Hum, forcing refineries to sell only to the US sounds and awful lot like socialism to me. Can not have that.
The price would be a lot less if Bernanke did not keep printing money. But then we would not have a job so...
mk1 - how about setting a stipend then: so much of the petrol must be sold only in the domestic market and the other 70% can go abroad. At least the people would see some relief instead of just watching the money going into the pockets of the same companies that currently have Record Profits AND huge government subsidies.
So requiring companies to make and sell products in the US sounds like socialism to you? Its for the good of country, country first. Which is very anti-socialist.. Its also funny how free trade agreements only go through when the dems control the white house..
Alex, we would get the same amount of oil at the same prices, just from different sources. Would not change anything.
Amazing how the price of gas comes down when President Obama ordered a special investigation on the speculators???
Jacksonc.....The republicans & teaparty will see their are no jobs created, you know like Mitchell said the parties main priority is to make sure Obama is a 1 term president, and to h... with the American people, economy, as long as the rich keep getting those tax cuts they will be riding on cloud nine.
It was reported that Linda Hendrickson(ABC Building Supply-Janesville, WI) is worth 3 BILLION DOLLARS and paid NO TAXES.....boy isn't that fair!
Laura-3089574....
Search how much GE paid last year in taxes....ZILCH....ZERO.....NIL.
And who is Mr. Obama's jobs Czar who has sent more jobs overseas than most companies ? Wow, the CEO of GE.
Boy, isn't that fair.....Jobs Czar for Mr. Obama and paid no taxes.
Wait a minute....41 Obama White House Staffers and some of their aides HAVE FAILED TO PAY THEIR BACK IRS TAXES.
Boy, that isn't fair.
And, it isn't fair that Illegal Aliens (Immigrants) files IRS tax statements claiming the Additional Child Tax credit for children living in Mexico and not related, but yet soaked the American taxpayers for about $ 4,200,000,000.
Now, that really isn't FAIR....It is FRAUDULENT.
And Mr. Obama is going to be a one term President BECAUSE of his failed agenda and policies.
"Gasoline is a global commodity, and here in the US it's very cheap, compared to most other countries. If an oil company gets a better price from someone else, they're gonna sell it to them."
This is what the GOP "Drill bay Drill" idoits dont' seem to get. Even if we had enough oil to sustain us we still would sell it to the highest bidder on the world market. "Drill baby Drill" is only good for BP, Shell Exxon etc etc. It will never lower your price at the pumps.
Alex...I agree...it should be easy to accomplish also... government leases requiring oil extracted from the country, stays in the country. There is nothing socialistic about it as suggested. If you want the lease, abide by the terms.
When the big oil have record profits the teapubcons give them more tax breaks for political kick backs !!!
Friggin liars..... Gas is still high in price and hasn't dropped a dime let alone .16 cents...... 4.26 a gallon here.
Hey Laura #2.7, If you are middle class and you owe the IRS $10,000.00 dollars they take your home away. But if you are a TeaPub A Con worth three billion like Linda Hendrickson you pay nothing. This is Nuts, where is the Dept., of Justice ??????????????????????????????????? This is Criminal and should be a investigation as tax fraud !!!
Laura, that is funny how the gas price is coming down when Obama ordered a investigation - like you said, will they still have record profits when we are in a G "W" Bush depression ?
@AlexTheBlade
Right and when the price of oil goes up in other countries because we won't share ours they'll just say "oh well, too bad for us" right? No of course they won't, they'll start jacking up the prices of things we need from them so in the end, no savings for the consumers here.
@Ed-1118000
Here's what the liberal idiots don't seem to get, supply and demand on the global level works the same as it does on the domestic level. The more supply the lower the cost whether it's worldwide or not. Here's another thing the liberal idiots don't seem to get, speculation is essentially guessing what the price will be down the road, that's why it's "speculative", durrr. If the speculators think there will be more oil and an oil friendly administration in the WH they will "guess" that oil prices will be lower in the future so they will sell what they have now while it is still high. Again, supply and demand, when more people are selling than are buying the price drops. When the price of oil drops so does the "price at the pumps". You guys did graduate high school right? They still teach basic economics don't they?
Just proves the old adage you cant screw all the people all of the time...
Besides just think of the lower price as it being pulled out of your backside, too be followed by another deeper thrust...
Those of you from California will vote for Obama so the price will not drop :)
Why, when it went up, everyone blamed Obama? Now it is going down no one is giving him credit.
This is my question too nachman. Should we be cheering for the president, he must have done something to cause this decline.
Because in their minds, Obama can do nothing right. If he found a cure for cancer they'd accuse him of putting the pharmacutica companies out of business.
I guess because in 2008 everyone blamed Bush? You know, saying it was because we had "an oilman in the White House?"
But then again, the left continues to blame everything else on Bush, why not the price of 2012 gas as well?
Because, Natchman, the teabaggers have been commanded by Fixed Nooze to hate President Obama. They have been told that republicanjeebus (who loves maaaaaaarka more than any other country) is watching and they don't want to be put on the naughty list.
Obama (if that is his name) is complicit in any economic, social or financial activity which is associated with the United States of America.
Perhaps you have read or heard it said that there are people who have eyes to see and see not, have ears to hear and hear not ?
Well then you just need to take a few seconds and recall the strident voice of this socialist wanna be dictator when he said he would 'side' with islam EVERY time.
When he said he wanted to BANKRUPT the coal industry, when he said we don't need a powerful armed force, when he said he was above and beyond the law, when he said he would not show his passport activities, when he declined to show the ORIGINAL birth certificate but produced a forgery or a phony.
When he said he barely knew that treasonous Bill Ayres and yet he sat on committees with him, had some of his college paid for by Ayres dad, and when he lied about his relationship with Larry Sinclair and the so called Rev Wright.
And of course when he said that 7.00 dollars per gallon would be an acceptable price for gasoline in the US? That must tell even the staunchest left wing ideologues that he is NOT an American Patriot.
Aaaah yes, eyes to see and see not. Ears to hear and hear not.
Time to see what is happening America. Time to hear what is happening America.
Because it can be too late if we don't evict this destroyer from office this November.
Fact is, the Bush family are oil men. It's written all over the internet, do some research.
Speaking of left, and right. You do know the right lane on highways are reserved for the slow, and the left lane, for those who want to get ahead.
Obama/Biden....2012!!!!
It wasn't the "oil man" in the White House that caused high gas prices in 2008. It was the idiot who invaded Iraq on trumped up WMD evidence (you know those WMDs we never found because they never existed!).
Google it - nobody in 2008 was blaming "oil man" politics for high gas prices, but plenty of economists were saying that limited supplies of oil, caused by the Iraq war, were to blame.
Now, I know this is bothersome to you and every other Republican. You all just kind of wish Bush and his mistakes had never happened. Well, here's a little news for ya... so does every other American citizen!
This article is bs , gas prices in my area haven't dropped its actually risen by 12 cent over the last 3 weeks - driven by greed from the oil company's , course it helps for the only supplier BP to have an monopoly on fuel supplies
Gas regular unleaded 4.78 , diesel 5.32
The fast lane to America's Pile Up. Speeding towards socialism. THATS what your left lane theory is all about.
EENGINEER--- you mean the WMD's that the Democrats agreed were there because of the international evidence of them being there? The WMD's that the Democrats overwhelmingly voted to go to war to find and eradicate? Those WMD'S ??
Not sure where you all live but the price of gas never went over $4 a gal here and is still $3.56 and diesel is $3.80. Buts that not what i was going to say what i want to know with all the GOP on here bad mouthing Obama and telling every one the price would be over $5 a gal by now because we did not build that pipe line what happened? And the price of gas is going down did you drink from the wrong cup or just let faux deceive you aw hole lot?
There ought to be an investigation! How dare these speculators lower prices!!!!!
You do all know it works both ways right? So where are the idiot democrats demanding an investigation now? I guess only profits are evil, losses are patriotic.
Earl
$3.07 here...maybe you should move if you don't like the market.
Everyone else,
This is why teabaggers will never get it...
Then
They can't even understand their own talking points and hatred for the black man in their White House, why would you expect them to understand the complexities of a worldwide oil market?
If we can't blame Obama for high oil/gas prices, how can you expect him to receive praise for lowered prices?
@Josh Brogan
You sir are a total nut job.
"This articale is BS"
Not from where I stand. Gas is down .70 cents here in South FL. Sorry for your luck
Agreed. "Obama (if that is his name)"? Seriously? *shakes head*
Yeah, Pdruss... Those WMDs that Bush insisted that, if you didn't think they were there, you were anti-American! Yep, those are the ones! The ones that weren't there! Where are the WMD's? They don't exist! The Democrats didn't go to war over them! The Republicans did! And they were wrong!
Lessee, pdruss = Pdrussian, glad to see what an American you are!
Nachmann, I give him credit. Why? Because the reason it is going down it the economy, pretty simple. The economic outlook is terrible. No economic plan from obama, higher taxes being proposed, no hiring due to obama's lack of plan, healthcare plan, etc. The list goes on and on. If we were doing well economically, it would not still be going down.
Mark, no job bills from the republican congress.
Earl-1539701.........You should drive to another state to fill up !
Josh Brogan.......Just hope that they do not close down your idiotic post. It is good for people to read to see just how dangerously ignorant people on the extreme right are !
Grandpa-2986035....The have only been in control for 1 1/2 years ! Don't rush them, they are busy campaigning for the next election !
Big deal. Are we supposed to run out and buy a new house and car, go on vacation to disneyland, buy all the kids new clothes, pay off the credit cards, etc. All this because the price of Gas went down sixteen cents a gallon?? Wait until after the election, gas will go to $4.50 a gallon within a month.
Only if the repuglians win!
How dare the gas prices fall...it is President Obama's fault....
Tarzan...what do you care about gas prices?...you use vines to swing on to get around. Buying a new vine and a trip to the elephant graveyard 2012 will help the economy. Go for it!
Only if the Democraps win.
Especially if Romney gets elected, why anyone would vote for him is beyond me, he will take us back to what Bush did, tax breaks for the rich, make the middle class pay for it, reduce wages, little or no health insurance or pension for that matter. Don't forget he will get rid of ALL regulations for both the banks & wall street, so they can run wild again and put us in an even bigger mess than what we are in already. At least Obama is trying to keep the economy going, with no help from Congress.
"Demacraps" ??? What are you 5 years old? Is that anything like republpoops ? Geez grow up
About the only place you can buy cheap gas is Taco Bell :-)
Evidently no one learned anything from the Wisconsin recall and what people really want.
@ special lady
Here are 2 things I learned from Wisconsin:
1. There are no record of any success recall in history.
2. This is one of the biggest recall in history.
If there are so many people involves in recall to have 60-40, then there must be something wrong with the one in charge.
Glad to know why it's so freaking high here in Washington State. Not only do we have the 4th highest gas tax in the Union, now we have to pay for a refinery fire? I remember a few years ago hearing that we didn't get our gas from our refineries, 'our' refined gas was shipped to the global pool, and we had to buy it back. Yeah? Really? If that's the case, why isn't it peanut-buttered across the board, er, States?
I would tell you to move to Al. ($3.06 for reg.) but we have been called stupi, uneducated, can't speak properly, racist, proverty stricken backwoods hicks so you probably wouldn't like us either. Everything is cheaper in the south for some reason. Maybe it's because the southern states are run by rep. no socialist here.
not so Special lady
That's why there School System's are so bad.
Not here in Illinois where they went up 10 cents in the last two days.
Thats funny because I just back from Chicago, they said gas was coming down, not a lot but its coming down. What I noticed was the toll prices are outrageous, especially with your crappy roads, so much for using the toll money to repair your roads, guess you have to pay for all those tax breaks some how.
Laura you do know that most of the toll roads in the is country have either been bought or are leased out to foreign entities. They take the toll money and do just enough to keep the roads from totally falling apart (but not much) and we keep paying for it.
Special Lady, when you look at the disbursement of funds(welfare et al) to the southern states you will find that proportionally they receive a hell of a lot of help from the Federal government. I know it's not fun to know that you actually do get money from the big bad Gubbermint, but you do and quite a lot of it too. You are no better nor any worse than any other state in the union, in other words you are not that SPECIAL!
Can someone explain to me why I keep reading all these "gas is down 5 cents and 10 cents and 16 cents" stories yet the price of gas is only down a few pennies here in CT?
I don't know where you are in CT but at BJ's its 3.57 a gallon, Cumbies 3.60 and Costco 3.60 where I am. Why Fairfield Count is still at 3.89 is ridiculous when even in New Milford yesterday I saw it at 3.75.
Hi Sue, yes, I'm in FFld County and it is still ridiculous. At least somewhere near eastern FFld county they have a Costco in the milford/orange area, wish I lived near there.
Guess your state is doing its best to not help the economy recover.
What I would like to know WHY it takes so bleeding long for the prices to come down at the petrol stations, yet the moment a barrel of sweet crude gains twenty cents on the market, the prices at the petrol stations shoot up overnight. The lag for weeks in one direction and the instantaneous spike upwards overnight is what seems a bit odd to me....
Remember guys, CT is a highly democrap state.
As is CA, OR, and WA. Prices still horrendously high in all three.
Good old Phil...spewing again.
Do 5 minutes reseaarch. Reduced refinery capacity is hitting the west coast gas prices.
But that must be the Democrats fault cuz they're in bed with the oil people, lol.
@Valhalla Phil
By what you are saying, oil companies are backing Republican and playing hostage on prices. Nice to see corporations doing some control in the US.
Well, I can explain, but you won't like it. Truth is, oil prices are going down, but gas prices aren't. Why? Maybe you should look at your state's relationship with oil companies? Maybe they are committed to maintaining oil profits, not oil consumer health?
Oh Goody! I cant wait till the gas I just paid $4.35 per gal for runs out so I can save .16 cents per gallon on the refill.
WILL ROMNEY, GINGRICH AND OTHER REPUBLICANS THAT BLAMED OBAMA FOR HIGH GAS PRICES NOW MAN UP AND LAUD HIM FOR LOWER GAS PRICES. If they fail to do so, then Americans must see now through their utter dishonesty and devotion to the politics of division and personal destruction. These people have been taking Americans for fools for decades since they embarked upon their Southern Strategy. Currently, they are on steroid on their dirty racist tactics deploying in their service unregulated dirty deluge of money from Wall Street. This is a moment of truth for this nation--and those who wish America to remain a great nation and power must begin to stand up and be counted on the side of a more hopeful, more inspiring politics based on a broader truly empowering vision of common humanity and destiny.
As soon as Reid, Pelosi, and Obama laud Bush for getting gas down to $1.88. Till then STFU.
Democrats have been in control for almost six years, they've had plenty of time to fix anything they didn't like about Bush's programs. Only pathetic losers use the race card, it doesn't intimidate anybody.
Obama is in wall streets pocket, read the book "Bought and paid for".
"This is a moment of truth for this nation--and those who wish America to remain a great nation and power must begin to stand up and be counted on the side of a more hopeful, more inspiring politics based on a broader truly empowering vision of common humanity and destiny."
So your voting straight republican this Nov I see.
Let me know when gas is around $2.50/gallon.
In PGH, PA. I am Paying 3.60 for 87 octane and 3.89 for 93 octane-Both these prices are tremendously lower compared to UK, Europe...
Boul Sheet. They find one gas station in the USA with cheap gas and they declare that gas prices have dropped drastically. Premium Gas is still over $4.00/gallon in Jupiter, Florida
As you say, Boul Sheet! I drive 30 miles one way to work every day. I've certainly noticed (and been happy for) lower gas prices. I paid $3.35 a gallon for gas on Friday in Ohio. If gas prices in Florida are at >$4.00, then maybe you need to look at your state government.
All of you that think Romney will make things any better need to look at his history as Governor of Mass.:
In 2003 Romney increased fees on gas by two cents a gallon to pay for environmental clean ups of leaking underground gas station fuel tanks. The fee increased the clean-up tax on drivers by 400% and hit consumers directly at the pump. The fund, which was originally only half-a-cent, was created in 1992 to aid gas station owners with clean-ups.
Two weeks after raising that tax, Romney eliminated the fund for gas station clean-ups entirely but kept the two cent increase. The money raised by Romney's tax increase now goes directly into Commonwealth's coffers for legislators to spend as they please.
The result of Romney's decision was about $60 million more every year in tax revenue and a huge backlog in clean-ups. Of all the money collected by Romney's tax increase, only $13 million annually reportedly goes to clean up gas leaks.
Not sure what you mean. I am sure that I paid $4.10 a gallon for 93 octane at Chevron this morning. How is that Boul Sheet? I know what I paid a gallon. Do you know something that I don't know?
That's funny, I just checked the price of gas in Jupiter and regular is $3.37 - $3.69. Sure doesn't look like over $4.00 to me. Maybe you're just a lier. Funny, I'm not surprised.
Premium is just over $4.00 in 2 places, that's it, most are $3.79 for premium.
The 2 Shell stations on Indiantown Road are at $$.06 a gallon. The take away is, don't by gas at Shell.
Well, either you are lying or I am! I say, and I can back it up, I paid $3.35 a gallon on Friday, June 8th, 2012! Put up or shut up!
I just love the commercials the Oil Industry runs on TV telling us how if we would just pump more oil out of US soil the price would drop like a rock. And, as an extra added benefit, we will get energy independence!
That's laughable at best and a blatant lie at worst.
Oil is sold on the Comex to the highest bidder no matter what country they are from. Allowing the oil companies to access more of the US supply will only put more oil for sale at the Comex for whoever has the highest bid.
Maybe they just don't want to say that in their ads....
yea supply and demand what a silly theory...
Exactly right, OKEE. The most patriotic thing to do would be to build up the oil reserves in anticipation of the next world wide crisis. Drilling in the USA only depletes our reserves and lowers the price little, if at all.
What those pumpaholics also don't tell you is that the more we produce, the less OPEC will likely pump themselves thus worldwide supply will stay relatively the same while OPEC saves their resources. Big Oil still makes huge profits no matter what while we get screwed as usual.
And this pipe line from Canada that's going to save us at the pump, you all remember the one that the GOP wants so bad. The one thats going to carry oil to Texas to be put on ships and sent over seas and never stop any where near here. Ya the one Binder and Mittens were talking up that we needed so bad well what do they have to say about it now a long with the rest of you re pugs.
Liberals are so incompetent in economics no wonder the economy is still a disaster. It is, always was, and always will be supply and demand. When you near full usage prices will go exponential, even a small amount of extra on the market can have a dramatic effect on pricing.
Saudi's can't afford to cut back that much since they need revenue to keep their economy going.
If you think oil companies are screwing you, buy an electric car, there are many available with more on the way. Sorry, you can't have other peoples money on this one, you'll have to buy it yourself.
Oil from the pipeline will be sold internationally but the bulk will likely stay here. We can bid at a lower price since we would only have to truck it. When China bids they have to consider loading it on to tankers, going through the canal, then shipping it across the Pacific, THEN trucking it.
Also, it would mean more business for the refineries which adds to the local tax base.
how great !!!!gas in my area is only 4.19 double what is was when obozo came to town....thank you obozo for helping the poor
And did you blame Bush when oil and gas prices rose so much in 2008? No, I didn't think so.
true- you're in imbecile if you think the POTUS manages the price of gas- if he did, he'd be the communist you think he is- but ironically you'll berate him for not doing enough about something he shouldn't be doing and if he was doing it, you'd hate him even more.
D you are right he is NOT a communist. He is a MARXIST!
Yep! "Obozo" is the problem!
Sorry! Your single word "Obozo" indicates the problem. Maybe you should actually research the problem before you speak! Moron!
Try researching the problem - George W. Bush caused the mortgage meltdown! But, of course, you don't wanna hear that! George W. Bush didn't exist in your little pea-brain, did he?
uh obozo? you and your friends in the press are asking people not to believe their eyes....
double gas prices, just more wonderful change brought to you by our lord obozo
While Dubya was President, gas prices were over $4.00 for much more of his term than they were around $2.00. Enough Republicans control it that they were able to bring crude oil prices way down just before the election. However, most people realized what a @!$%#ty president he was and it cost McCain the election.
truebro, please, lord Marxist Obozo.
Democrat lies cost McCain the election. They promised health care reform and fiscal responsibility. We got Obamacare and $1.3 trillion deficits instead. Voters responded accordingly in 2010.
Uhhh, no, what cost the election was Republican lies. They promised smaller government:
As a result, Mr. Bush already is the first president in history to implement budgets that crossed the $2 trillion a year and $3 trillion a year marks. His final budget, which comes to an end Sept. 30, conceivably could near $4 trillion, depending on the final tab for the financial rescue.
Mr. Bush campaigned in 2000 on a pledge to reduce the size of government, continuing a trend that had been under way since the end of the Cold War. But since terrorists attacked the World Trade Center and Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, he has done what he thought was necessary to keep the country safe. That commitment became a centerpiece of his 2004 convention speech: “Whatever it takes.”
But that's OK, you keep rewriting history the way you want. The rest of America knows exactly what happened!
16 cents?? Oh good I may have enought to buy a coke with the savings.......Please let us all know when it gets to $1.31 like it was in Dec 2008
@Hardcoffeeat6am
I recall when it was $5.37 in the summer of 2008 so I know what you mean...
In my area, prices have really come down - they are about $3.00 now and decreasing...
Propaganda.
@david
Not in my area - the price is now about $3.00 .
Yes gas is lower but not low enough. In Idaho I went to fuel up my pickup and paid 3.97 and that does not meet the adverage. In our area gas goes up fast but takes a long time to go back down.
Is it under $2?....NO!
YUP !! it's sure going down in central oregon.......were down to 4.27 ! what a big relief , LOL....LOL !!!!!!!
i just mite be able to put gas in the boat by july ! been a great spring, and summer so far , LOL !
i can't believe it, we should be able to ship gas from N. D., and get it cheeper.......once again for the american public, a brl. of oil is a little over 80.00, and were still paying over 4.25 a gal........GO FIGURE !!!!!!
just my opinion on a nice, sun. afternoon
steven
everybody is suppose to have an orgasm i guess. dear: mr. politician we the general public," working class people are not as stupid as you think". as far as the media is concerned. "go take a hike".
gas prices are manipulated and Obama is pulling the strings - of course they are down now - he's got nothing else to hang his turban on regarding the ecconomy - guaranty if if he gets re-elected they will go back up within 30 days - how bout those 3MM "green" jobs - did you know they count a kid working 40 hours at a used record store as a "green" job? Thats been testified too - it's recycling records so the govt considers it a green job - what a joke - Hitler said if you tell a big enough lie often enough people will believe it - trust me the dems are counting on stupid people to re-elect them.
From your rant I can quite easily guess what you are and it certainly isn't anything to be proud of.
Do you really believe Obama controls the price of oil?? Wow, impressive. So Obama has been able to do what no other President has, namely control the price of oil. And just last week you were saying he was ineffectual and had no clue what he was doing.
Um, no, but cons seem to believe he controls the price of oil when the price of gas increases. You can't have it both ways.
Oh, yes, and thank you Mr. President.
Gee, when prices spiked during George W.'s presidency a lot of people seemed to believe that the president controlled the price of oil, so why should it be any different now?
Did you know that EVERYONE connected with the maufacture and transportation of bikes and motorcycles and the sales are considered and counted as "GREEN JOBS". All bus drivers are considered "Green Jobs". All jobs connected with manufacturing if buses are "Green Jobs". If you ever see the list of the jobs Obama considers "Green Jobs" you would laugh if it wasn't such a big fat lie and some little people believe it.
I know what you are, but I can't say it here.
realist, I second that !!!
guesswhatIam...........and those stupid people they are counting on are the Republicans who continue to shoot themselves in the foot by selecting candidates so unqualified that even their own party can't bring themselves to vote for them !
Every few Presidencies people get a little bored and want 'change', they vote in a Democrat, and look what happens. Next time you get bored, take a hike or take up a hobby.
Every few presidencies peole get a little bored and want "change', they vote in a republican, and look what happens...iraq war, Great Recession of 2008.
next time you get bored momgrandma, take a hike or take up a hobby. :)
(and yes I know its offtopic, but I can't resist taking silly posts like yours and just changing one word and echoing it right back at ya! lol. )
Yeah and groceries are UP by 75-200%. BSNBC you are picking at straws and showing your liberal progressive bias again and being a shill for the Obammy admin.
or they are reporting a story of interest to people.
lol, I see stories when gas prices go up, are they "showing their obvious bias" then too?
you're funny.
